Clubs week is over at last! Huzzah! I don't think I could have stood another day. I slept from ten last night till eleven this morning and I am still dead tired. The Meeting/gathering last night went wonderfully though. Everyone I spoke to said the had had a wonderful time and were definitely coming along again. :D It makes all the work this week worth it. We managed to get 31 sign ups this week with a few more expected in the next week or two. and a dozen or so seem really keen. Thanks to all you guys who helped out.

Now stress levels should decline back to about normal levels. tutorial readings look set to be the curse of my life this year. you'd think that two level three history papers would have about the same amount of reading between them, but not at UoA. My Wild West paper's course reader is Twice the size of my medieval mentalities paper, something which is both extremely daunting when back up by a heavily american accented professor and heavy to carry around. Have spent the whole morning trying to get through my readings for tutorials on monday.

Spending tomorrow sewing with M. will be a lovley way to de-stress at the end of the week. Going to work on fixing up my corset tomorrow. It's slightly too long for my torso atm and sits oddly because of it. Then I'll be getting onto making a farthingale and petticoats for my tudor gear. :D Yay for Mary Queen of Scots! I also want to get onto making some chopines, because I have this lovely picture of a Venetian woman from the late 1570's (my userpic) who is obviously wearing them and has a most ridiculous hairdo. I can't help but want to make it! especially the silly ruffs. :P Some of the new sign ups have already said they would like to some to sewing on sundays so we may have some more attendees soon. Yay!

I'm being kidnapped off to Waiwera soon by my Boy. Such a nice fellow. So this evening should be lovely and relaxing, readying me for the rush back to being a full time student etc. Wah! *hides from that thought* Realised today that I am about halfway through my uni life at the end of this year. another scary thought. Still I wouldn't change it. I sometimes wonder if I will ever get sick of studying and want to leave. I hope not!

Ok so I haven't written on here in well over a year, nearly a year and a half. still, now I am again.

So it's O-week at uni this week, and all us clubs are out trying to fox new members into joining us. I wish it didn't exist. It is making my life absolutely frantic and wet. The wet is from the rain. It rained most of today so at one I finally told everyone to pack down... in the rain... Wet medieval dresses suck. They eat your legs. and feet. It had so better be dry tomorrow. if not we will have to cancel the fencing tourney.
*does anti-rain dance*
heh, rain dances. Used to think that if you did a rain dance backwards the rain would go up instead of down and all the earths water would go into the sky.

Life looks set to be as busy as ever this sem at uni. Already more and more stuff is popping up to occupy my precious time. Was being told about some really good belly dancing classes that are held in town on mondays and I'm really tempted to go. but I am already out so much. Still, it is very tempting.

On the positive side of things I finally finished my plans and research for my Kaylee Shindig Dress from Firefly. It will get done for armageddon this year! Yay! *is excited*

Went to Hot chocolate movies on sunday which is back on again! Huzzah! Watched Underworld and Jaynestown from firefly. Was good. especially the hot chocolate :) I'm looking forwards to next week already.

Spent most of yesterday wishing I was someone else, anywhere else. How do other people find the strength to do something that they know will hurt themselves and others now but be for the best in the long run. I can't seem to figure it out, or find that strength inside. I guess it is one of the hardest things a human can do. after all, Books have been written around that theme, great epics of our time. hum... and now i feel.. just ordinary.. the sort of person not even mentioned by name, but in with the hordes of others, an extra.
Ah well. No doubt I'm just too tired to think cheerfully today. Forgive me my down moments. They happen to us all.

*sigh* ok So I just got home from an absolutely awesome night at the medieval guild. We spent the evening rganising a whole lot of sewing and artsy stuff to get us ready for St. Catherine's in December. We also did alot of dancing in Prep. for cultural mosaic tomorrow. It was awesome.
Went shopping with Candice earlier today, and had a great time (even though I wound up with blisters on my feet). I found the most awesome bells at this shop on K' Rd. They are period for Medieval stuff and really pretty. I'm going to buy a heap and tie them round our wrists when we are dancing tomorrow. And then, the really cool thing, I'm going to sew them onto scarves and make them into Belly dancer belts. I'm also going to see if we can get some of the girls from the college of St. Dionysius to learn Belly dancing with me. Its period, showy , and cool. Waikato Uni have Fire dancers for heaven's sake! Why can't we have Belly dancers! :P Hee Hee.
ok, Tired now. energy all gone. I've got to dance like mad tomorrow so I'd better get some sleep. See you all later.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
P.S. Oh and Also for those interested we are having our first monthly Stitch and Bitch event this sunday morning at 10.00 at Karens house. This consists of anyone interested learning about embroidery, sewing, and needlework in the medieval period. contact me for more details/ if you want to come along. All welcome... even guys :P
peep peep. Ok. Three days till Medieval feast. The panic is slowly rising and life is looking incredibly sleepless and full for the next few days. The full glory of my purple wool arrived yesterday with accompanying drop spindle and wool. Neatness! Let me just say this. It is damn harder than it looks. I got bored yesterday and went sexy underwear shopping... heee hee... am now happy :p. Reading Lolita at the moment too. It is such an awesome book. But it is evevn better when you notice the expression on the prim lady's face who has been reading it over my shoulder on the bus. Played in a spycraft game at America last night. It was great fun. Just joined in as a random charatcer in the final show down. Took out the soldier and backup soldier of my own team cause they weren't doing their job. hee hee. I'd forgotten how fun RPing can be. Note to self: go to America more. I managed to forget to bring in the banners for AUMG tonight. Means an extra 2 hours spent on the bus today. *groan* Oh and Candice If you need a new slat for your bed we have ALOT of wood in our garage I'm sure we can make you a new one.
Got attacked by the cat in the middle of last night. I left the door open for him to escape out of, but the silly thing thought it was closed and proceeded to sit on my head to make me open it. *sigh* Oh well, off to grab free stuff now!
oh my god! what the hell am I doing in at uni today. *curls up and dies* 7 am in the mornig (yes, such a horrific hour does exist) and I was standing outside the Kate Eadger centre wondering just what the fuck I was doing there. Earliness of arrival is all tracable back to the fact that it is my Grandma's birthday and i had to get up early to give presents etc. However shes slept in so Dad (my ride) left the house, dragging a sleppily blinking me in tow at 6.30. *groans* have spent the last hour raiding other peoples LJ's and trying to figure out who they are and if i know them. mehness.
It is also official that I failed my Latin test yesterday. I am such a bum.:P and now have to spend the rest of the semester working like a pig to catch back up. This unfortunately means I shall not be around the Alcove much *whimpers* It's black tar floors have been eating my soul.
Sausage sizzle for medieval guild today. five hours of onions, bread, sauce, and sausages. So people had better buy them!!!!
disapeered home at 12 yesterday, missing two classes, and slept for 4 hours. yayness. woke up feeling much better. Have had difficulty sleeping recently, haven't been able to get to sleep much before 3 am. however keep falling asleep during the day instead, just drop wherever. No Vanya, this does not mean I am turning into a vampire :P.
It was the full moon on wednesday. So very very pretty. I spent several hours watching it while trying to get to sleep. total randomness, but anywho. I have also decided that who ever said August was a crap month was totally right. Life is chewing the nasty grizzly grey bits at the moment and making me suffer her distemper.
Car is leaking again. *groan* Really have to get the roof fixed properly, but can't till money arrives. *kicks scholarship people* Also got it's WOF very soon, MUST remember. Also have to remeber to bring stuff for Daphy for OWBN tonight. Its very sad but I don't think I'll be able to get to OWBN tomorrow *cries* not only do i have far to much stuff on, but i also have no way of getting home once there. Mark can't give me the usual lift as he is off to the engineers ball with Sibby. (lol, so cute!)
helping Daphy with make-up for her film again to night (sigh) before disapeering of to Mila's for movies (yayness!)
They love to make someone fall into their inner darkness. Blood, wrath, murder... You name it they love it. These beings don't care who you are, if they set their sights on you, let's just hope you know a good excorist. They kill any love within you and pull you toward their side. By any means possible. *sigh* Life is so darn busy at the moment. Everything seems to be pileing up at once. Assignments, Medieval stuff, piano... *groans*. Still only myself to blame really. Spent the whole morning fiddling about with details in preparation for the medieval feast with Siobhan, the afternoon studying Latin, and the evening making fibreglass practise rapiers for fencing (huzzah!) and teasing Vanya about that girl in English. Mwa ha ha ha! I'm just so mean :P. It's so exciting!!! The College has six... Yes SIX members going down to Hamilton for Master Del's dance class and after-revel thing in a month's time!!!! That is so Awesome! it is such a big achievement for a group that has onlystarted up this year. It will be great fun. I'm really looking forwards to it incase you can't tell :P.
*Sigh* I missed my bus stop this evening. Was much to busy being distracted by my plotting over (yes... you guessed it!) more medieval stuff. Ended up walking up Deep Creek at Eleven at night.
Oh yes! I started my next medieval project on Monday evening. A Proper Boned Elizabethan Tight-lacing Corset!!!! WOOT!!!! Its going to be so pretty! SCA is great fun, but expensive! especially if i want to get to all the events i want to go to next year!
*sighs again* Life is flat. Nothing much interesting going on at the moment. i painted my nail purple again, but thats about it. Why doesn't anything interesting ever happen to me? ( and if you haven't guessed already, i'm thinking in terms of the relationship department :P)
Ok. The last few months have been particularly buy ones. I haven't really had much of a chance to update anyone. So. Here is a quick overview of the more... memorable aspects of July '06 for me.
We shall begin a long time back, June the twenty something or other.
The Bloth took place and was absolutely beyond awesome. I had a truly magnificent time. The Tourney of the Rose took place in the afternoon and I had two requests from Lords to be my Champion. : P One of these was from a Baron :0. In the end Lord Benedict fought for my honour. To be honest he wasn't very good at the fighting, (much more of a fencer than a great weapons warrior: P) and he lost every challenge except for the last. He kept coming over and giving me white roses for loss, hee hee. But he kept going back and finally he won a Rose for victory. It was so sweet of him!
Then we had the actual Bloth. The food was absolutely gorgeous; Andrew certainly knows how to cook! And then there was the dancing. This was extraordinarily fun. The Next part of the Baron and Baroness' challenge (see ildhafn website for more details: P) took place, to see who could galliant (a type of medieval dancing consisting of jumping up and down, surprisingly like moshing) the longest. The Lords won unfortunately :(, with Paul gallianting third longest :0. I spent a lot of time helping out in the kitchen and it all wound up about midnight.
I had my last exam the next Monday, It went ok. But let's not think about that. I spent the next two weeks flat out sewing. I was sewing for about 9-11 hours a day. :( not a good thing. Still I got everything done in time for coronation. However I forgot in there about Alice's Birthday *hits self repeatedly overhead* something for which I cannot forgive myself.
Coronation turned up the first weekend of July. Honestly, it was the best weekend of my life. There is no way I could describe what it meant to me here, or how much fun I had. I made some awesome and incredibly interesting new friends, got to see amazing things (like fire dancers), be Lady-in-Waiting to the Baroness at a crown court: D, and GOT AUTHORIZED FOR RAPIER!!!! I got to know Nadia and Nicole and Alex a lot better, which was awesome, and again spent a lot of time helping out in the kitchen (an absolutely awesome way to meet new people and do silly things like singing while washing the dishes) and dance and sing and drink the nights away.
After that, I spent the holidays babysitting *shudders* and doing more research for medieval projects. Went to a few KAOS parties in there, were mostly good fun. Jack's Birthday party was certainly interesting ;), as were Candice's flat warming, the Pirate Party, and Karen's Birthday. Hmmm... Actually that might be all of them: P.
Anyway. I am now three weeks back at Uni and regretting that I ever took Latin this semester. I have spent the last week and a bit working on the menu for the next medieval event, The Frostbane Festival. The first *big* event our little Uni college is holding. I stuck my hand up as head cook, and while fun, it is rather time consuming. EPP! It's so exciting; we are going to have a baronial court and everything!!! It’s scary though and I keep freaking out over silly little details, (much to Alex's annoyance). Everyone is invited to come along; it's on the 26th of August and costs $20. It will be a blast!
I went along to heavy fighter's practise on Tuesday to get Lord Andrew to look over the menu I’d prepared and got thoroughly beaten up for my efforts. It was quite scary. I'm absolutely hopeless at it, where as Alex is a complete natural. *Sigh* Then I went along to armouring yesterday to finish my Gauget and finished up being kitted out with a complete outfit of loaner armour so I can keep doing heavy. *Groan* I don't think they are going to let me escape: P Still, Its a good way to build up my strength and reaction times, and a terribly good work out. Plus aggression reliever: P hee hee.
Today I woke up with the 'flu. I am most put out, as this is my first illness this year. Fencing practise was cancelled which is always sad, but probably best seeing I am sick. And now after being up for a paltry two hours I am buggering off back to bed.
Hmmm.... Well over a month since my last entry, but have been shockingly busy. Auckland has turned into an icicle the last week just in time for exams sigh. I giggled through my classics exam again folks. I always seem to do this in classics exams. Must be all that depraved and licentious debauchery I'm supposed to be analysing, formally if you please. Which definitely rules out phrases like; 'one hell of a scary lady' and 'Psychopath!!!!' or 'oh the cleverness of me'. A particularly annoying fact when they pop into your head in the middle of an exam and you just have to get them out.
Went and saw 'A Midsummer’s Night's Dream' yesterday which my brother was in. Was an adaptation unfortunately. Why people have to ruin Shakespeare by sticking in dances that are based on the worst aspects of the eighties is beyond me! Still, the acting was surprisingly good and I got to laugh at my brother looking like a drag queen as the poor fellow had let someone put the wrong make-up colourings on him. He reminded me, rather unfortunately, of a cross between the rocky horror show and the undead. *Muffled giggles*. However it did mean I had to sit quietly through three hours of 'Victorian' (*cough cough* yeah right) costumes.
Just been catching up on other LJ's. *coughs* took goth test, giggles:
almost laughable.
Had Medieval group last night. It was awesome as always. Talked about archery, something I really want to get back into, and got really enthused. I'm going to have to get onto making some equipment soon. Period arm guards are alright so I'm safe there. Alex keeps talking about breaking for the semester break. NOOOooooooooooo......!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! *Sigh* I really hope we don't. I know I'm a sad little history freak, but AUMG is usually the highlight of the week. And just to prove that point still further, I spent today having a lovely blobbing time sewing a chemise. It has turned out quite well and I am rather proud of it, but the neckline still needs work. While pinning stuff and sewing buttons I also watched Robin Hood Men in Tights. VERY FUNNY. It was such a good spoof that I didn't mind the anachronisms. a miracle in itself. Oh also got nostalgic after that and indulged in 1950's musicals. *Sigh* such sweet happy endings. *Imagines my life in a 1950's musical* - - > *collapses in hysterics* oh dear... *wipes away tears* ..Still.... Meet Me in St. Louis has put me in a very tranquil, almost distant mood, and feeling rather detached and floaty at the moment, despite the heff-a-lump of a cat sitting on me. Also spent sometime mucking around experimenting with medieval hair-dos. I've just about got the Leia over-ear-plait thing figured out, and plan to perfect it by the Bloth next weekend. EEP!!!! THE BLOTH NEXT WEEKEND!!! How perfectly exciting, even though I'm being dreadfully naughty in going when I have and exam on Monday, but It will be SO much fun! (Note to self: get onto making mulled wine).
There goes the feeling in my other foot. The really annoying thing about the weather at the moment is that one of my 'revel in nature' moods has recently overcome me and the nymph in me is longing to answer. Took a walk amongst the rocks last Saturday because of this. The tide was out and the sun peaked through the head-heavy clouds for the brief hour I was there. I clambered out round the island to the far side where you can perch amongst the boulders and gaze out at jello-green islands and the endless blue. I meet a mermaid there. She was soaking in a larger-than-usual tide pool where she had been caught by the retreating sea during a quick nap. I didn't see her at first, as I was too busy reading Sophocles to the sea. It’s amazing how much more sense Greek tragedy makes when one hear it out loud. Anyway it made her laugh and call me a 'amusing little ape-clown'. Not my reading, Sophocles' Oedipus Rex. Apparently it was most amusing tale she'd heard and asked If she might have a copy. I had to explain that unfortunately books and water don't mix to well. She got a bit huffy about that so i wandered away and chatted to some anemones before clambering back to shore. Unfortunately this while temporarily quenching my thirst to 'revel' has not sated the desire. I suspect I shall go a’ roaming again sometime in the next few days. Nature is still calling me.
But now my dear friends, it's cold, its dark, and the hour grows ever later. Upstairs I have a snugly bed and matching cat and wheat bag beckoning me. So i shall bid you all a fond farewell. Adieu.
Well folks! This is it I've finally set up an online journal. Not sure how well this is going to work being so busy and all. But hopefully i'll get just enough time to update it every now and again. absolutely dead from the past week. Over a week since i've lsat been home for dinner, and was out all weekend. Think it took my family a minute to remember who i was when i walked in last night. Rather scary that i guess. Meh, well not much happened today. Almost boring after the weekend. The Medieval Feast was absolutely awesome. It went off really well. 'Grrr' to those of you who didn't turn up. Hee hee. The dancing was particularily awesome. there was one dance where the lords actually 'threw' the ladies over to their new partners. ( please note when i say 'threw' i mean swing. not actually toss. lol.)Happy Sigh. Oh and despite my earlier disaster the mulled wine turned out gorgeously. I'm going to make some more for my birthday party. Whee!!! It's gonna be a Masque!!! So anyway, after that rather irrelivant tangent, have had a rather sluggish day today. Latin was boring again, but thankfully i managed to distract myself by writting out poems i had memorized from ages ago and giving them to Candice. Then we went and bummed around in the alcove again. Had a rather amusing conversation with James which consisted main of "Is!" "Isn't!" "Is!" "Isn't!" "Is!" "Isn't!" "Is!" "Isn't!" "Is!" "Isn't!" "Is!" "Isn't!" "Is!" "Isn't!" "Is!" "Isn't!" "Is!" "Isn't!" "Is!" "Isn't!" "Is!" "Isn't!" and so on... Then i got distracted by the shiny window across the way and zoned out for a while. meh. oh well. Oh i think i also wandered randomly with Sibby and Mila somewhere in between there. Didn't see Daphy today. pouts. sigh. could have teased Candice if she'd turned up. Was rather down today though, so was nice and didn't tease Candid by self. History was realy interesting, was about women in the wars. giggled a bit when i realized i was wearing my french resistance outfit. hee hee. Had an awesome time planning a confectionary war with Catherine. We were going to build a big landscape with sea and land out of blue and green jello (respectively)and build ships out of liqourice logs, castles out of marshmellows, with hard boiled sweets as cannon balls and sherbert as gas, we would stage an entire war with jelly babies as soldiers then eat it all! so awesome! Finally meet Candice's friend Matt that she's told me about. Hee hee. He's very funny. Somehow he managed to wind up with me nicknaming him 'Dirt'. Poor fellow. but he's really very nice. Hope he comes visits again. Seems like the type of person we could draw into our madness. *evil chuckle* anyway. Then i bought some more shinies (dice that is for those that as yet have not been exposed to my new addiction) and sat around and sang along to 'Coin-operated boy' with Sibby as i was waiting for the bus. Managed to get some very odd looks from passerbys. anyway, then went home and watched more Zim. lol. funny guy. "Ride the pig Gir!" and then i set up this account thing and chatted to Alex and Lisa. Sigh. So thats my day folkes. I've probably scared most of you off by now with my rambling. oops. got to go. Dinner!
